So on my last post I talked about what was the beginning of the problem for me,now let’s talk about how I got diagnosed.

So as already mentioned I’m in work doing my steer’y drive’y thingy and ended up having to go home because I’m doubled up with cramps. So I end up going to see my doctor and explain my symptoms so he checks me out and tells me I need to get some tests done.

Now you all know what’s coming next right? Yeah you guessed right a serious of scans ,xrays, and drinking some weird gloopy stuff that looks lik it belongs in a bad Sci-fi movie, and that’s before we even get to the fun part yes the colonoscopy. Ah yes there’s nothing funner than having a camera stuck up your butt, I have to say thankfully they put me out for that bit. The hardest part was drinking the prep, a forced detox that would have you slimmer than a wafer biscuit.

So I get this done regretting that I didn’t buy shares in a toilet roll factory, and had the wonderful news told to me that I had Crohns.

I’m Brendan Somers and this has been some of my story.

As you may have guessed by the above title this is all completely new to me so as I sit here I’m trying to think of what to write next, now I’m no wordsmith like Shakespeare or any of the great Playwrights or Poets so I will write in my own words the best I can so please forgive any bad grammar or missed punctuation marks.

My first page was an attempt at possibly writing a book on my experiences with Crohns, and I would greatly appreciate any feedback or ideas anyone might have.At this moment in time I find myself at a very low point in my life and am struggling with dealing with depression.

There  I said it the ‘D’ word not as bad I suppose as the’C’ word but still it has its own unique quality’s and problems as I’m sure some of which others have experienced. But that is another days work. Let me talk about this lovely disease that I and anyone who might ever read this blog will understand only too well where I’m coming from.

About Thirteen Years ago I started a new job as a Driver with the main bus company in Ireland, before this time I had been experiencing problems on and off with cramps, and loose bowel movements but still at this stage it was not as difficult to deal with as it would become.

So I get this new job pass my medical and start work, but soon the cramps and urgent need for the loo [that’s toilet where I come from] and over the next course of a year the problem increases. Now you Know what it’s like when you start a new job you want too keep your noes clean right? so I struggled on until one day it got a bit too much.

So this is kinda how it went I’m in work driving my bus when I could feel it begin too build like the wind increases just before a storm we all Know that feeling right? so I’m there Driving at this stage through gritted teeth trying to get to the end of the line as quickly and as safely as possible. So I reach the terminus empty of all passengers and get out of my cab [yes I know I said bus but cab is where I do the steer’y  drive’y thing] doubled up in serious pain.

At this point I had to make a call to my controller to explain the situation and ended up bringing the bus back to the Depot and had to go home.

I’m Brendan Somers and this has been some of my story.

Welcome to all fellow Crohns sufferers

I am writing this to share some of my experiences that I have had with Crohns.

High my name Is Brendan Somers and this is some of my story.

Chapter 1

It’s all in the genes they say but I’m not talking Wranglers or Levis but your Genetic make-up [no not lipstick and powder] but your Auto Immune System.

You see most peoples Immune systems work in balance with their bodies [ie] you get an infection Immune system kicks in fights infection and then stops. But oh no I got the sport’s car of Immune systems [ie] get infection [we’re under starters orders] Immune system fires up and we’re off racing for the finish to fight off the infection, but wait here’s the finish line and we’ve won Harrah, but wait were not stopping we’re going too keep on going and now something has changed, now we have become Hannibal the Cannibal and look at all those juicy intestines and I’m kinda hungry

You see this is what Crohns is like, a juggernaut, Superman without any Kryptonite to stop him.

It keeps going till you end up in a situation where you ” need a toilet stat nurse”.

You see this is part of how I feel living with crohns.

I’m Brendan Somers and this has been part of my story.
